How to prepare your Ibiza property for a photoshoot
Clean the pool and set out the outdoor furniture the day before. On the day, clear every surface, switch on every light, open all blinds and curtains, and hide personal items, bins, cables and cleaning products. Move cars away from the house. Rooms photograph best when they look ready for guests: furnished and clean, without clutter.
The day before
- Clean the pool and skim the surface.
- Set out loungers, cushions, parasols and the outdoor dining table.
- Sweep terraces and paths, and cut the grass if there is a lawn.
- Replace any blown bulbs, inside and outside.
- Wash the windows and glass doors that face the pool or the view.
- Empty the bins and put them out of sight.
Living areas and kitchen
- Clear worktops and tables, leaving one or two simple items at most.
- Hide remote controls, chargers, cables, magazines and paperwork.
- Straighten cushions and throws.
- Clear the fridge door of magnets and notes.
- Put away dish racks, sponges, tea towels and cleaning products.
Bedrooms
- Make every bed with plain, smooth linen.
- Clear bedside tables apart from a lamp.
- Close wardrobe doors and put suitcases away.
Bathrooms
- Hang or fold fresh towels.
- Remove toiletries, toothbrushes and bath mats.
- Put the toilet lid down and dry the shower screen.
Outside
- Move cars out of the driveway and away from the front of the house.
- Put away hoses, pool cleaning equipment, tools and toys.
- Turn off the pool pump shortly before the shoot so the water is still.
- Check that outdoor and garden lights work for dusk photographs.
On the day
- Switch on every light, including lamps and under-cabinet lights.
- Open all blinds, shutters and curtains.
- Turn off ceiling fans and televisions.
- Keep people and pets out of the rooms being photographed.
Why preparation matters
Editing can correct colour, straighten lines and balance bright windows, but it shouldn’t change what is in a room. At Ibiza Mi Casa nothing is added to or removed from a photograph unless you ask, so what is in the room on the day is what guests and buyers see. Every booked shoot comes with a short preparation checklist like this one.
